Nanowrimo [Oct. 4th, 2007|10:35 pm]
Gearing up for nanowrimo.

It's only october 4th and already a hitch in the plans.

I've sort of had a general concept for this year's nanowrimo brewing since, well since last year really. (What with skipping last year's wrimo.) Actaully it's sort of been knocking around for longer than that.

Then, now... There's another idea that's elbowing in.

So I turn to you. Which one to go for.

Plotbunny the first:
- anywhere but here!
A sci-fi romp about a small part of the crew on a long-haul transport ship, in a far distant future where the hairless apes have spread like vermin over the galaxy, colonising space and made it their own backyard. Centuries after space travel was new, exciting and glamorous. Now it's just a badly paid, really dull and dirty job.
So non-glamorous that a kind of draft have been reinstated to man these essential long-haul transports serving the outer colonies.
Our lot, is a group of such draftees. The novel a collection of the high-jinx, romances, and assorted other stuff they get up to to keep themselves from going insane with bordom during a some 20 months, each way, trip transporting some 3000 heads of livestock from point A to B.
Aiming for an aproxiate mix of *M*A*S*H*, red dwarf and firefly - ish.

Upstart plotbunny:
- 100 years after Tunguska.
Early morning on the 30th June 1908, the largest impact event in recent history on earth occured. The 100 year aniversary of this event is next year!
The Tunguska event knocked earth a bit out of course, so to speak. Putting human evolution into a loop. !00 years later it pops back. Bringing an evolutionary leap.
Yeah, I know, it's just an exuse for superheroes! starting to pop up.
Will see my current roleplaying character Emelie Tyler codename:Triffid as the main character. Because, she's a really rather fun character.
A bit heros like I guess, it's hard not to draw the parallell, With the popularity of that show right now.
It's still a bit up in the air of it'll just be a run of the mill rise of the superheroes. Centered on Triffid and her dream of being the first superhero to land a multimilion dollar sponsorship with nike (or similar) on the basis that superheroes are bound to be the next superstars... Even better than some piddling little sports stars, what good did they ever do?

Or some kind of polt involving a group - probably fundie religious nutters that plans to replicate the Tunguska event, to reverse this evolutionary leap and bring humanity back to well... humanity. Exterminate these new freaks that's an abdomination against god, etc. etc. etc. *yawn*

Going batty [Oct. 4th, 2007|10:15 pm]
I swear it's a conspiracy to drive me insane. Sky three is playing with my mind.

I'm talking about project runway, it might be a naff show. But I like it. I know I've seen a few episodes of the current series on sky three. It was just getting to the point where I were beginning to remember what day and time it was on. Then a few weeks ago, it dissapeared off the air. - No sports is not involved.
I know I saw trailers for it, that very week.

Then it started to appear in the sheduling on tvguide, only when tvguide said project runway there was something else on.

Then! there was trailers again. Promising project runway thursdays at eight. I know I saw them - I know this since I've got little pink post-it notes saying project runway thursday 20:00. I know I saw them earlier this week. Jester knows this too since I yelled and had him watch them too to proove I was not crazy - yet.

Tvguide said project runway at 20:00 for today.

Then today they started...

Trailers for project runway returning to sky three on Sunday!

Another crazy project [Aug. 29th, 2007|06:06 pm]
There is one thing I've never have been able to even be close to learn. Or, well there's lots of things, but there is one thing that I've always wanted to, but never have figured I have the talent for.
Oh, OK, two things. But I'm not talking about music here.

What I am talking about is drawing. I can hardly even manage stick figures. Never mind a straight line or a free-hand circle.

But it is one of those things that would be really, really, really, neat. Especially on the front of making character illustrations not only for D&D or other RP characters, but you know... for the nanowrimo stories etc. I have these visions of how people look, and I want to be able to get them out of my head.

Today I stumbled across this site.

I figure if I can manage to go through all 178 lessons. Drawing along with the videos.

Then perhaps... You never know... I might learn to at least make proper stick figures.

Email to jester I just sent.

"Ummm....

Honey?

Two boxes from 'Brantano' just arrived. I don't think it's a tent. Or
if it is a tent, then out new tent is tiny and weighs nothing and
comes from a shoe shop..."

Look an update [Aug. 16th, 2007|03:16 pm]
So it seems like this won't be as much a name-holder as actually get used. With the curent state of affairs over on LJ, etc. and so forth.

Probably won't mean I'll become any better at keeping a journal updated. Don't mean I'll stop trying. :)

Din-dins for tonight is ready to go into the oven. Yet another experiment based on what came in the veg-box. This week the big excitement is chard. One of those things I've been thinking we should try, but never have gotten around to. Not to mention that finding chard in your regular UK supermarket is pretty much nil. Well, at least in this area. Who knows your generic Brittish food shopper might be more adventurous of expanding outside the comfort zone of carrots, potatoes, peas and iceburg lettuce, down south.
Wait! We're down south now, no mushy peas at the chippy - but proper down south. You know... London.

So tonight we're doing chard.
Unfortunably the chard arrived at a period of very little inspiration about the whole cooking thing. So it's pasta-bake-thingie with chard and TVP.

New journal [Jun. 1st, 2007|06:55 pm]
OK, let's make no pretences here. This one probably won't get much use unless livejournal folds. It's like all the other places, just nabbing my username. So if something happensthe move is as painless as possible.

Might use it for nanowrimo, or game, things. Not to clutter up the lj one.
